Some Rad Wedding Portraits
June 5, 2008 | Portraits, Weddings

I love it when I’m able to capture brides in moments of solitude or deep thought, or simply relaxation. I find that my favorite portraits are the ones in which they’re not necessarily aware of the lens (or caught off-guard!–see image of Kendra above). I’ve posted a few from recent weddings with a little note about each one.

Jenny had rented some vintage umbrellas from Bella Umbrella, and this was after the ceremony in her parents’ driveway. It had just stopped raining and the sun was beginning to peek through the clouds.

The Academy in Vancouver has a dressing room with theatre-style makeup tables, with the lightbulbs that go all the way around the mirror. They made for some nice warm light as Elizabeth waited to meet her father before the ceremony.

Left Image: The deep yellow walls and warm light coming in the open door (behind where I was standing) made this shot irresistable. (Ainsworth House, Oregon City)
Right Image: Taken in a hotel in downtown Portland (I can’t remember which one). Brooke got some butterflies in her stomach shortly before we left for the ceremony site. She happened to look up at me while I was photographing her waiting to leave.
